This last Wednesday, Thierry Frémaux accompanied by Pierre Lescure was announcing "la Sélection Officielle" of the Festival de Cannes, live from the CGR Normandie theatre of Paris.
Due to the global health crisis, the festival could not take place on the Croisette under the sun of the south of France. No red carpet for this year.
However, Thierry Frémaux and the festival committee were aware of the global economic and cultural importance of the festival. The New York Times even posted an special article about it :

The festival has therefore decided to create the label "Selection Officielle festival de Cannes 2020" and has selected 56 movies from all over the world and I am happy to let you know that a Bulgarian movie was selected !
February is a feature-film directed by Kamen Kalev staring Ivan Nalbantov.
Kamen Kalev was born in Burgas in 1975. He studied cinema in La Fémis cinema school in Paris.
He is first director of advertisements and music videos. He realised his first feature movie 'Eastern Plays' in 2008 and the movie is also selected in Cannes.
Ivan Nalbantov is an actor born in Karnovo in 1940.
He is known for playing in Eastern Plays and Godless.
February is is a coproduction of Bulgaria and France. It is financed by the National Film Center of Bulgaria and Eurimages.
Kamen Kalev acted as film director, script writer, cameraman and continuity editor. The movie is inspired by his grandfather.
The story traces the life of man at eight, eighteen and eighty two years of age.
Ivan Nalbantov plays the leading star in the film.
